MAGIC:
Magic is the primary driving force of the world. It revolves around all species, including humans. Humans are even intergrading it into their technology, using it to create things that would be different or impossible to do otherwise. (Ex: using wind magic to make something float along.) Really, the sky is the limit on what types of magic exist and what your character can do. All we ask is that you play nice with other characters/muns, please don't make your character OP and able to take down other species without breaking a sweat. There will be one species that is stronger in one thing, but still has their own weaknesses.
TECHNOLOGY:
Technology does exist! This is mainly brought into the world by humans, though some may take an interest in helping it intergrade with magic. There are things like plumbing and electricity, but cars and other such vehicles don't exist. One still has to hitch that wagon up to a creature and have it pulled. Things like hot air balloons and ferries might exist, but they are powered either by natural things or animals. Think steampunk. And think of whether a species that prefers nature would have a lot of investment in technology, especially bringing it into their village.
COMMUNICATION:
There are no phones of any kind. There are, however, magical items that allow for some instant communication, but they're not at the stage of actually being able to talk. Two linked stones may heat up or even glow across long distances, turning it into a signal those two people would know. Things can be enchanted to travel to the other person, paper can turn into a bird that sings a specific song.
HUMANS:
Humans tend to outnumber the rest of the species, but only because they tend to live shorter lives and thus populate more. Humans can learn magic and gain the title of witch, wizard, alchemist, or sorcerer - depending on the sort of magic they lean into. The humans are united under one king, and that king has gathered plenty of troops to fight against a new violent, species known as the Grem. This army consists of many different species, though there are units of troops that look at the other species as beneath them. Kings have used the Grem as an excuse or scapegoat to cover the disappearances of species at times.
DRAGONS:
There are dragons! Somewhere. There are actually different types of dragons in the world from elemental to water, and possibly more. All dragons have a soulmate, and a special name they share with that mate. When a dragon mates, it's for life. Dragons are actually hard to find, as the human king has decided to secretly gather them up and use them for "parts" to armor his army. Thus, many dragon villages have been laid to waste and any dragons that managed to escape should be in hiding (of some sort of the word hidden). A dragon's only saving grace at this moment is to find their soulmate as that will "show them the way" to the ancient dragon lands where they'll be safe. Soulmates of different species can occur, and are welcome at the ancient dragon lands.
HIISI:
They exist. (A will expand more on this.)
ELVES:
Elves live in the forests, they keep to themselves and don't rely on any technology. They prefer to use nature magic. There may be different kinds of elves out there, including dark and drow. Feel free to go wild and expand on this if you play an elf.
FAIRY/FAE/FAERIE:
They also prefer nature magic, being very connected to it. They can appear in any size, and even have wings. May be helpful, may be mischievous, or even violent.
UNICORN/DARK UNICORN:
Like dragons, unicorns of all kinds are being hunted down for "breeding" purposes. A unicorn would have light and healing abilities, even capable of dreamwalking, while a dark unicorn is poisonous in a wide variety of ways that few can survive touching them. Dark unicorns can only dreamwalk through nightmares, and must either mate with another like themselves or from a species immune to poisons. Both are able to transform from human to unicorn forms and back again at will.
MERPEOPLE:
Being able to live so deep underwater, merpeople escape some of the horrors of the human king. They can walk on land and even pass as regular humans. Feel free to develop them more.
NAGA:
They exist. (A will expand more on this.)
GREM:
This is a species created just for this world. They have started to invade the lands of others, breeding faster than they could provide for. Grem are violent, incapable of any known language (even telepathy doesn't work on them), and they care little about what they trample over in order to feed themselves. Grem eat both meat and plants, considering practically anything to be edible.
MORE:
There are all kinds of species and more that exist in this world. Not all of them are listed, but you could have your character be a gryphon, a phoenix, kelpie, an elemental, centaur. You have free-reign over any species that isn't listed above, and even then, there is potential room for expansion on the established species.
Due to the fact that we have many other OC worlds that revolve specifically around a certain type of creature or two, I will list things that I'd like to avoid just so that Deltera stands out from those.

GREM
Nearly all species are at war with one called the Grem (see species for more info), this is lead by the human king. It has been going on for a few hundred years, as for every one Grem they strike down, another appears in its place. The human king of that era put out a call across the lands to bring people together from all species and races to put a stop to their reign of terror. Many don't suspect that over the years as the kings changed, so did their motives. Very few are aware that the kings now use the Grem as an excuse to take over the other races, sometimes in secret by kidnapping a handful of people here and there, and other times openly by staging a whole village's massacre as a Grem attack.
HUNTERS
Due to the kings' motives, hunters are now in abundance. These are people who feel they can make a profit from catching other species. They will use whatever means necessary to get paid, even more so if they work directly for the king. Hunters can be any species, though any who aren't human have to be careful not to end up caught in someone else's trap.
